SHAW PROMOTION Newsletter 1.30 – 2.5, 2014

“CBGB presents Amnesty Concert, Defalco + Bellhouse BK Bazzar, Ecstatic Music Festival, Glamdammit, HoneyChrome, Rock n Roll Girlie Show and MORE”

Hey New York,
I would like to start this week by saying HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR” to all my Chinese peeps.  I can’t wait for my family’s big celebration which consists of red envelops and tons and tons of food, we know how to do it right.  It really is a shame that this holiday is not recognized in the NYC as a holiday (yet) where people are off work and school.  Oh well, back to the grind.

We are very excited to be working with CBGB again for their massive upcoming Amnesty Concert (#AmnestyConcert) at Barclays Center featuring some of the biggest artiest in the world. Madonna was just added to the bill and she will be introducing Pussy Riot, along with other great talents such as The Flaming Lips, Imagine Dragons, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Tegan & Sara, The Fray, Cold War Kids and so much more. This is going to be huge, we highly recommend that you go, especially because tickets start at $27!! See you there!

This week is also the kick off of the Ecstatic Music Festival 2014. This is the second year we are working with Kaufman Center‘s annual Ecstatic Music Festival and they are starting with a bang with the sold out kick off concert with Hospitality & Face the Music at The Greene Space. Although their first concert is already sold out, you can watch a live video webcast HERE beginning 7PM, January 31. Click HERE to view their 10 upcoming Ecstatic Music concerts starting this weekend till the end of March!

Check out the Ecstatic Music Festival 2014 video!

Brooklyn Night Bazaar had one of their most successful nights last week with The Pizza Underground. Hundreds of youngsters came out trying to get a glimpse of Macaulay Culkin’s pizza themed Velvet Underground cover band (most probably weren’t even born yet when Home Alone hit theaters!).

This week, BK Bazaar is teaming up with Defalco and The Bellhouse to bring you The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, Streets of Laredo and more. It’s fun, it’s free, and it has some bad ass vendors! Also, everyone’s favorite BK Bazaar staff member, Chad, is throwing a party at Glasslands with HoneyChrome on Monday. Click HERE for details!

Bazaar 1.31-2.1.14

The RSVP is now open for Jess Marquis’ Trash! party with Lady Valtronic, Nina La Voix and more. Our comp list is on first come basis, so RSVP NOW!

Now, let’s talk rock and or roll! Twig the Wonderkid’s monthly glam rock revolution party, “Glamdammit” is back this Saturday with Love Pirates and Alan Merrill (who wrote, recorded and performed “I Love Rock and Roll” with British sensation The Arrows). We have a limited comp guest list for you, RSVP here!!

I won’t be attending Glamdammit this week because I’ve got my own rocking to do. My band, Bikini Carwash, will be performing alongside The Purslaines, Rob A Lou & The Bastards at the Lacey Allure’s “Shake, Rattle, & Rock ‘n Roll Girlie Show” at Bar Matchless (the bar was recently featured on HBO’s “GIRLS”). Bikini Carwash takes the stage at 11PM and I will be holding it down on the bass.  Come rock!

Lastly, before I wrap this up I would like to share this very interesting article on Brooklyn, also the headquarters of SHAW Promotion and my home turf.  Check out “A tale of two worlds: Statistics paint picture of extremes of wealth and poverty that exist side by side in Brooklyn”.

Thank you for reading, go out, keep NYC fun and HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!! 新年快樂!

“Grand Slam BBQ Battle, Glamdammit celebrates 40th Anniversary of “The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust”, Camo & Krooked, Stromy Leather, Lady Valtronic and more!”

Hey New York City,
Hope you had an amazing weekend filled with beaches, BBQ, and a whole lot of drinking (and not driving!). We attended a wedding, did the Zombie Crawl Brooklyn where my band Bikini Carwash played, and then booked it to Lake Mohawk in New Jersey to enjoy fun in the sun on a beautiful boat. Its been one hell of a long weekend, but its time to buckle down and get back to work — or is it?! Summer is here!

The photos from our Bootie Boat Party are up! You can see what you missed HERE taken by Alain-Christian.  We haven’t released the date yet for the next Bootie, but keep checking back because we have more tricks up our sleeves and I can bet you will not want to miss the next one.

If you are anxiously awaiting photos from the Zombie Crawl plus after party, Coach Mike has them up HERE! (more to come)

You can also expect more photos from DrivenByBoredom.com soon.

To kick start your summer activities, we have a few parties to titillate you. Let’s start with the outdoor one first. We are a proud sponsors of the Grand Street Alliance who will be hosting their very first “Grand Slam BBQ Battle” Brooklyn cook off taking place on Sunday on Grand Street between Berry and Wythe. Food, vendors, live bands, and of course the BBQ cook off will all be part of the festivities of the day, with surrounding bars in the neighborhood participating all day. For more details and information on this event, please CLICK HERE!

Also this week, Glamdammit is celebrating the 40 Anniversary of “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust” at Grand Victory; those kids love their Bowie and know how to party!  A new party Lit Tuesdays from the creator of Fac Off, The Blackened Music Series wraps up the their final event at Saint Vitus bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with Merzbow from Japan.  Unfortunately we do not have tickets to give away for this but they are $15 at the door and if you love metal, you will love this show.

We also have our beloved other weeklies such as Disco Down at Happy Ending, Camo & Krookers at Webster Hall with the very naughty Trash! party in the Studio below, our girl Queen Majesty (Deadly Dragon Sound) holding it down at Happy Ending Lounge, Props at The Gallery at LPR, Samuel Valentine parties and more.

Remember you can RSVP for almost all of our events through our main page and don’t forget to go to our Facebook wall and give us some love.

Thank you for reading and have a great week!!

Andy Shaw and the SHAW PROMOTION team.
