Down & Derby Roller Disco
“Couples Skate Kick Off”
down and derby

It didn’t take long before we out grew SRB Brooklyn.  Pretty sure right after our first party there we realized, and you told us, that the place was to small.  As much as we loved that place you were right.  Luckily for us the second largest live music space in Brooklyn was open to the idea of hundreds of people skating, drinking, dancing and making out on 8 wheels!  With that said we are pleased to announce that Down & Derby will “roll” back into town Sunday February 16th for our annual “Couple skate kick off” @ the Brooklyn Night Bazaar located at 165 Banker st @ Norman.
While all your “couple” friends scramble to make reservations at overpriced restaurants and pay top dollar for roses you can pick off of 495 you can rest easy this Valentine’s Day knowing that you have Monday off and Sunday it’s time to flex that rage muscle!  Maybe the 16th can be your official Valentine’s Day treat to your hubby or perhaps your coming solo for dolo and leaving with a main squeeze.  Either way we got Rok One and friends back on the decks to skate guard the tunes that your sweet tarts bouncing.
If you haven’t been to the Brooklyn Night Bazaar, you are in for a treat! This place is HUGE!! Def the biggest venue we have ever had the pleasure to skate.  Because of the sheer size of this place I traveled all the way out to the Denver team and stole an additional 300 pairs of roller skates!  All the skates have been gone over with new bearings, soles, laces and are ready to roll!
Dig out your cupid wings and dust off those short shorts cause Sunday February 16th its time to get Down & Derby.
Dont forget to RSVP for reduced admission and bring them short shorts!

Bootie NYC Beach Party at Le Poisson Rouge Was Very Wet!!

Holy smokes, how about this heat the last week killing New York City?! Luckily, last night,  SHAW Promotion and Bootiepresented the Bootie NYC “Beach Party” at Le Poisson Rouge and it couldn’t have come at a better time.  It was hot all day, it was super sweaty at night, but hundreds of loyal fans showed up to dance their ass’ off to mash up music and live mash up performances by DJ ShyBoy from LA and NYC’s own DJ Lobsterdust.  The SHAW and Bootie team turned the main room into a beach party paradise with dozens of fun inflatables, 2 limbo contests, a Bootie twerking dance off, and a wet tee shirt contest!  Check out all the photos below taken by myself, JaiDee Valentine, and sign up to our SHAW Newsletter for our next Bootie party in September – Back to School edition where you can expect to see mini plaid skirts, hot football players and naughty cheerleaders!  And for more craziness from the beach party, check out our friend Coach Mike’s website from his take of the night.

Red Bull Music Academy 2013 takes over NYC with 38 Events!

Red Bull Music Academy is in town and kicks off on April 28.   We were lucky enough to be invited to the Redbull Academy last night for a kick off party for a taste of events to come this next month and we even got a tour of the whole place.  Theaters, recording studios, and aquariums — it was a creative playground and we couldn’t be more impressed.  Over the next month, RBMA is throwing 38 events in every cultural background to cater to anyone’s likes which include Eryka Badu, our friends from Fixed JDH & Dave P, a Brian Eno paintings exhibit, DFA 12 year anniversary party, NYC in Dub, and pretty much any other NYC party you can think of will be taken over by.  We’ve added 11 of their events to our SHAW Calendar, all of which have not been sold out yet. Check those out HERE!

For a complete line up of all the events, CLICK HERE!

And here is a word about the festival from RBMA:

“The Red Bull Music Academy is a world-travelling series of music workshops and festivals: a platform for those who make a difference in today’s musical landscape. This year we’re bringing together two groups of 31 selected participants – producers, vocalists, DJs, instrumentalists and all-round musical mavericks from around the world – in New York City. For two weeks, each group will hear lectures by musical luminaries, work together on tracks and perform in the city’s best clubs and music halls. Imagine a place that’s equal parts science lab, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and Kraftwerk’s home studio. Throw in a touch of Haight-Ashbury circa 1967, a sprinkle of Prince Jammy’s mixing board and Bob Moog’s synthesizer collection – all in a 22nd century remix – and you’re halfway there.

The Academy began back in 1998, and has been traversing the globe since: from Berlin to Cape Town, São Paulo, Barcelona, London, Toronto and many other places.

Interested? Applications for the 2014 Red Bull Music Academy open early next year. Watch this space for more information.”
