BabeFest is HERE! A Concert to Benefit EMILY’s List w. Ani DiFranco and MORE!

Hello New York,

It’s been a while since our last email blast, but we just had to tell you something really special.  BABEFEST is this Friday, September 21, at Warsaw in Brooklyn. BABEFEST – A Concert To Benefit EMILY’s List. EMILY’s List ignites change by electing progressive women up and down the ballot – all over the country. I was personally thrilled to be contacted by the talent management agency who represented my old band Metro Stylee and to be presented with a meaningful event to work on. It is more important than ever to be informed and to all come out and VOTE. See all the performers, ticket link and event details below and I will see you at BABEFEST!

Please check out our other events including the Modern Sky Festival and the The 16th Annual New York Burlesque Festival.  Check out our Billboard Bicycle OOH advertising program we are doing for NYBF! If you would like to have your brand and message out allover town displaying for all to see, please inquire at

Thank you for reading, till next time.

Andy Shaw and the SHAW Promotion team.

A Concert To Benefit EMILY’s List
EMILY’s List ignites change by electing progressive women up and down the ballot – all over the country.

Rise up! Show up! Help elect pro-choice Democratic women!

Ani DiFranco

Grammy winner and feminist icon Ani DiFranco began her career as a proponent of the artist-run label, creating her own Righteous Babe Records in 1990. Since then she has released over twenty studio albums, collaborated and shared the stage with legends ranging from Bob Dylan to Chuck D to Prince, and supported a broad range of social causes including racial justice, reproductive rights, gender equality, environmental issues and prison reform. Her new album Binary was just released in June on Righteous Babe Records and a memoir is forthcoming from Viking Books.

Resistance Revival Chorus

The Resistance Revival Chorus is a collective of more than 60 women who come together to sing protest songs in the spirit of collective joy and resistance.

Mackenzie Scott currently records and performs as TORRES. She was raised in Macon, GA and now resides in the East Village, NYC. She was was also voted class clown her senior year of high school, though you’d never know it.

Amy León

Amy Leon is a musician, poet, and educator. She performs frequently all over New York and has toured numerous times across the UK performing in collaboration with the likes of the BBC, Roundhouse, Amnesty International and more.

As the midterm elections loom in the near future, activist/feminist/singer/author Ani DiFranco is actively rounding up the troops to take action. DiFranco continues to urge those around her to Rise Up and get active in regards to voting. This effort is the third annual Babefest, a festival of music, community and activism taking place September 21 at Warsaw in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to musical and spoken word performances from DiFranco, Babefest will feature the Resistance Revival Chorus, Torres, and Amy Leon.

EMILY’s List is thrilled to be partnering with Babefest,” said Lucinda Guinn, vice president of campaigns at EMILY’s List. “This election cycle, we have trained more than 4,000 women, in-person and online, preparing them to run or help other women run for office. Working with these phenomenal artists featured at Babefest helps to spread our mission while bringing attention to the need of more women being represented at every level of government.

Lack of voter participation has lead us to the brink of disaster. Without speaking in hyperbole, voting this November is more crucial than ever before. Democratic principles, already eroded, can collapse. America is not immune. Yes, they are going to make it as difficult for us as they can. But we can overwhelm the corruption with our numbers. Let’s rise up by all simply stepping into a voting booth on the same day. Let’s think of each other and feel the power of acting together. Let’s get this party started! The great irony is that the power of a revolution of peace and justice has been right here in our hands all along. Use it or lose it, baby.

VOTE NOVEMBER 6! – Ani DiFranco

Babefest is promoted by Mercury East and The Fource in association with The Hum and WFUV.
