Hello New York from the Shaw Promotion headquarters in Brooklyn!  First I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the "Promoter of the Year" party @ Trash! last week.  It's so great to see so many new and old school friends and I truly had a blast.  I also like to thank DJ Jess, Webster Hall, PAPER, SVEDKA, Kill Shop Kill and Ben Sherman for helping me with this celebration.  You can see all the photos at Nicky Digital and HERE.

This Week:
We are celebrating the 1 year anniversary for the Ohio Party @ Public Assembly and for my man Igor's DrivenByBoredom's 9th year @ Trash!  I think Igor is offering free tattoos of his logo, but I dont have the details, so ask him if you fancy one.  We also have the Arthru Rusell tribute album launch & "Dance here too" @ Santos Party House, Sugar Shack Burlesque w/ Stormy Leather, Tigercity w/ VHS or Beta DJs @ (Le) Poisson Rouge, Stretch Armstrong @ Sutra, Neon Indian featuring Holy Ghost! @ Girls and Boys & tonight's "hairspray" theme Disco Down with tableau twins.  Check out all the details at the bottom or just click on the links to any specific parties you want more info on.  Hit us up for your guest list for Trash!: rsvp@shawpromotion.com

On a personal note:
I mentioned last week about the frozen waterfall ice climbing and everyone is asking to see some photos, so here they are!  I went on this 12hr trip straight from my party @ The Studio on Friday and as exhausted as I was, not only did I "survive", but I also had the time of my life.  The van dropped the climbers off on a mountain in the Catskills and we hiked up 3-4 feet of snow with our gears in the wilderness to this huge rock covered in ice.  The experience and scenery was magical; I felt like I was in the middle of Alaska. It's hard to believe we were only 3 hours away from NYC.   Ice climbing wasn't like anything I have done before and I just couldn't help to feel like a bad ass with these ice axes, spiked boots, and climbing up this huge, beautiful wall of ice.  One slip from the ice and the climbers flipped upside down hanging on the safety ropes with the ax flying towards the others down below. It's very hilarious.  The whole experience was pretty mind blowing and I do recommend it if you are looking for a quick one day adventure get away to do something different.

you can see more photos here.

Alright friends, thank you for reading. Keep it fun and I'll see you around!

Andy Shaw and the Shaw Promotion team.

Tigercity
w/ VHS or Beta Dee Jays and Wave Machines

Tigercity was formed in Northampton, MA in the fall of 2004. By January 2005, Tigercity had themselves a DIY, bedroom electronics-style demo. That following summer found the band in-studio with long time friend/engineer-producer Al Carlson. In two months, TCITY + AL molded the process-heavy demo tracks into what became the Tigercity EP (Forge Records). Time Card appeared on the VICE Magazine CD/DVD Vol. 1 Sampler in February, 2006. Now living in Brooklyn, Tigercity combines guitar-driven rock and electronic pop with hints of Roxy Music, Talking Heads, The Police, and Prince. Successful nights at The Annex, Club Midway, The Knitting Factory, The Middle East, Lit Lounge, and North Six have the band making waves from Jersey to Manhattan, Boston and Brooklyn. Shows with Jamie Lidell, M.I.A, Serena Maneesh, Jimmy Edgar, Mobius Band, DieDieDie, and Oxford Collapse have their fan base growing rapidly since their Western Massachusetts transplant.
VHS or Beta Dee Jays were formed from the alternative rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, United States which formed in 1997. The band combines elements of French funk and dance rock.

Wave Machines are an alternative rock band formed in Liverpool in 2007. The band released two singles, The Greatest Escape We Ever Made and I Go I Go I Go, with Chess Club Records before signing with Neapolitan Music Limited in 2008. Two further singles, Keep The Lights On and a re-recorded version of I Go I Go I Go, have since been released, followed in June 2009 by the band's first album, Wave If You're Really There.

The group have performed on BBC 6 Music on shows presented by George Lamb and Marc Riley.

Hot Pursuit

Prepare to exhaust your drinking muscles because Brooklyn
transplants Mark & Craig of VHS or BETA are returning to their weekly
party along with BK natives Kids With Snakes and Gavin Royce! Hot
Pursuit kicks off at Williamsburg’s newest venue, The Woods.

If you haven’t already checked it out, The Woods It's an old
garage/industrial space on S4th and Wythe with a huge back patio that
has recently been turned into a rad new bar and event space! It even
has a full time taco cart with delicious food.

In addition to the great tunes and fun times the drinks are extremely
cheap....$3 dollar keg beers and $3 “working mans cans” as well as
other cheap beer and shot combos. The liquor drinks are very
reasonably priced if you like your top shelf stuff.

P.S. Gavin thought you should know that the tacos are $2 and burritos
are $5, and they also do burgers!

11pm, 21+ - Tickets here

Dance.Here.Too with Danny Howells and Lee Burridge

The gold standard for dance music magic, Danny Howells and Lee Burridge are a well-balanced pair of techno renegades who have been tearing up both coasts with a love for the craft and camaraderie that shows. Catching a vibe at either one of their shows would be a delightful treat for your feet but together they light the candle at both ends with explosive results.  This week's edition of Dance. Here. Too. is riding strong on the tails of two legends with flighty fingertips so reach for the sky and never look down.
