Pinups for Pitbulls recap**

Last Saturday SHAW Promotion had the opportunity to co produce “A Second Chance at Love”, a charity event created by  Pinups for Pitbulls, hosted at The Park in Chelsea.  We were so excited to be able to work with such a fun organization and all the people that were involved and donated their time to raise awareness about the mistreatment and misunderstanding of Pitbulls.  I would like to thank everyone including (but not limited to!) Sandra Dee and Little Darling, David Augenti and Bonnie Goodrich at The Park, our fabulous sponsors 44 North Vodka and Mercy (thanks for coming!), the DJ Dutchman and his beautiful wife Joanne, the vendors Dollsville and Enz’s, and last but not least the bands Bikini Carwash and Screamin’ Rebel Angels who really were the icing on the cake.  Thanks again for a wonderful evening, can’t wait to do it again!

**Something got screwy behind the scenes of this posting and I had to redo it.  I apologize for any inconvenience, I will try to send everyone the new permalink for this.

Top 11 SHAW Promotion “Best Of” 2011

We are only days away from 2012. This is the best time to plan your New Year’s resolutions (start jogging) and to take a look back on the best events of the year.  I have narrowed down my favorite top 11 events for 2011 and with such a fun year now behind us, I realized it was so hard for me to choose from all the fun things we have worked on and participated in.  Here’s to you, 2011, thank you for being so kind to us!

11. Relaunch of www.shawpromotion.com
After 8 years of a rolling blog site, we finally were able to redesigning our website to make it more user friendly and easier to update.  Great way kick start 2011!

10. Harley Davidson Blackline launch
We are bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts. When we were asked to help launch Harley Davidson’s Blackline unveiling event at Don Hills NYC it was a proud moment for us. Expect more Harley Davidson to come from SHAW in 2012, we are currently working on some very exciting stuff.

9. SHAW company SxSW road trip
We drove the SHAW TIME mobile from Brooklyn to Austin to hang at SxSW with the SHAW team and painted the town red, literally. It was an amazing festival and a even more amazing road trip.

8. Big Up Festival
There is nothing like a good old fashion outdoor camping festival at beautiful 100 acre farm upstate. We saw enough glow sticks to last us all year and can not wait to bring more people this year.

7. NYC Scooter Rally
This is an annual event in NYC that we never miss.  Scooterists from all over come to NYC for a weekend of rally and it’s the time I pullout my 1975 TS 125 Vespa and hit all the rides and gatherings. Think dozens of colorful scooters driving through Times Square and all over NYC.

6. Dorney Park Zombie Invasion / breaking a Guinness Book of World Records
SHAW sponsored the Zombie Crawl at Dorney Park and helped break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most zombies riding a roller coaster, need we say more?!

5. All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival
After working with ATP for 3 years, we finally had a chance to check out the infamous festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey and it was definitely a festival like no others.  We stayed next door to Public Enemy and got to see Portishead twice.

4. Bootie NYC at Santos Party House
Bootie is one of the only on-going “SHAW produced” parties and its only getting bigger and bigger every time. Expect great parties from SHAW and Bootie in 2012!

3. Uniqlo store launch
SHAW helped launch the Uniqlo store openings starting with the Soho shop few years back.  In 2011 we had one of our biggest programs of the year launching both the world flagship store in midtown Manhattan and the 34th Street location, hiring over 70 brand ambassadors.

2. Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Who would’ve thought the year would end with such an impressive 3 night festival from a new player in the scene. We are very proud to be a part of both BK Night Bazaars and we can’t wait to see the new tricks they have up their sleeves for the next one.

1. Surprise marriage proposal!!
Yup.. This is the number one for me. I surprised JaiDee Valentine, our SHAW campaign manager, with a marriage proposal on Thanksgiving at a dessert party in front of all our friends and family. In 2012, SHAW PROMOTION will officially be a family business. Remember, there is no business like the SHAW business!!!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE, we love you all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from SHAW Promotion!!!

Brooklyn Night Bazaar Kicks Off Tonight in Williamsburg Warehouse

When they told me the Brooklyn Night Bazaar was going to be held in a 40,000 square foot warehouse in Williamsburg, I thought, “Damn, that’s a really big space.” When I did a walk through a few nights ago of the former carpet warehouse that takes up the entire N5th block between Wythe and Kent, I thought, “HOLY CRAP! THIS SPACE IS FREAKING ENORMOUS!”, followed by, “So this is what 40,000 square feet looks like.”  To reiterate one more time – the venue is BIG, and definitely a few notches up from their previous October location at DeKalb Market.  The space is split in two sections. One being the market with 100 local vendors selling their wares from delicious vegan snacks by Electric Blue Baking to the super sassy accessories by Dollsville, NYC. The other half is reserved for the music with a 2800 person capacity, a half pipe complete with pro-skaters, and plenty of beer flowing from Brooklyn Brewery.

Music line up tonight (Thursday, December 15th) is as follows:

6:45-7:30pm - MIDNIGHT MAGIC

8:00-8:45pm - POOLSIDE

9:15-10:15pm - THE CRYSTAL ARK

10:45pm-12:45am - JAMES MURPHY (DFA/LCD Soundsystem)

DJ Sets all night by Justine D

Tickets for the show tonight are $25 at door. Entrance to the market is FREE. Doors are at 5pm and both the market and the show are all ages. The main entrance is at 149 Kent (between N5th & N6th), but if you’re just coming for the music, there’s another entrance on N5th in the middle of block.

The Shaw crew will be there in full effect tonight. Happy BNB-ing!!!

We are launching Uniqlo 34th Street store in NYC – Grand Opening is Friday 10/21!!

Hey All, big news! Tomorrow is the GRAND OPENING of Uniqlo on 34th Street between 5th and 6th streets, but I’m sure you already know this from the massive promotion campaign they are doing on subway ads, news channels, and almost EVERY bus in the city it seems!  Over 70 SHAW ambassadors have been working on this project for the past 2 weeks as well, first launching the World Wide Flagship Uniqlo store on 53rd Street and 5th avenue last Friday (we’ve been too busy to blog!), and now the 34st Street location.  They are having amazing sales too – the $9.90 denim and free tote bags are just the tip of the grand opening prices.  Check out the store launch tomorrow on 34th Street and if you see our team out and about, be sure to give them a high five!

All Tomorrow’s Parties 2011 photos are here!

Flava Flav!!! That’s right, we had the best weekend at All Tomorrow’s Parties in Asbury Park, NJ which was curated by Portishead, and got to see, amongst MANY other great bands, Public Enemy.  SHAW has been working with ATP for the past 3 years and I couldn’t believe this was our first year we attended.  We stayed in the beautiful Berekely Hotel, centrally located to the festival, which was really fun because all of the bands and press were staying there too, so we got to meet a ton of new people and had easy access to our room for power naps (well, sort of. Flava Flav is not a quiet guy).  This was a particularly fun festival for me because ATP had hooked us up with photo passes, so I was able to capture all of the bands up close and personal.  I got great shots of A Hawk and A Hacksaw, The Pop Group, The Horrors, Ultramagnetic MC’s (with Kool Keith and Dr. Octagon!), Shellac (with Steve Albini), Foot Village, Swans, Beak, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Marc Riot’s Cermanic Dog, Shepard Fairy DJ set (the street artist, maybe you remember him by his work for Obama’s “Hope” campaign and “Obey”) and of course Public Enemy and Portishead.  The only performance I saw but wasn’t able to photograph (by request of performer) was Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel, but that seems typical.  We were a little run down by all the fried food at the festival (and not very veggie friendly) and  had to work all through the night on Monday after getting back from our 3 day excursion, but it was so worth it!  I also have some videos that will be going up soon, so stay tuned. Thank you so much to everyone we met and everyone at ATP, we look forward to next year!

7th Annual Paper Magazine Award photos are up

What a fun night! Even though SHAW wasn’t nominated for promoter of the year (we have already won two years in a row!), we held our heads up high and graciously accepted our invitation to attended the 7th Annual Paper Magazine Nightlife Awards held at Hiro Ballroom in NYC. This being my 3rd year, and Andy’s 4th, it is so nice to see all of your friends, colleagues, and fellow crawlers of the night in one room dressed (and naked) to the 9′s.  The very fun Wendy Williams hosted the night which was filled with other fun NYC celebrities such as Swizz Beatz, Michael Musto, Sophia Lamar, Estelle Patricia Fields, Anderson Cooper (I see you), DJ Josh Madden, Amanda Lepore, Bad Brilliance, Andrew W. K., Nicky Digital, Justine D., Nancy Wang and DFA, Seva and MyOpenBar.com and of course… SHAW Promotion.  Our “seats” were as shitty as my camera lens, but we got to surround ourselves with the wonderfully amusing Sugarland crew, so that makes the photos taken too far away kind of worth it – to me at least. Oh, I completely forgot to mention that Mary J. Blige performed and I got it on video! Check out her opening up her act with “Real Love” below – yes, I can finally die happy now.  Thanks Paper Magazine!

SHAW loves Triumph motorcycles and SweetProductionMedia.com

Greetings my friends and all Triumph motorcycle lovers,

My whole life I had always dreamed to own a Triumph motorcycle which became a reality  back in 2001 when I picked up my first Thunderbird Sport to finish my cross country trip after I crashed my Honda at Yellowstone National Park. I rode that Thunderbird Sport everyday, and few cross country trips later I traded her in for a 2009 Triumph Thruxton.  Recently an old friend, Kadshah Nagibe of sweetproductionmedia.com, called me up to be in his video he was shooting about Triumphs, which I was more than thrilled to be a part of because video  consists of two of my favorite things: Triumph motorcycles and chicks with tattoos!   Click HERE to watch the short film and see yours truly in action.
