SHAW Promotion is giving away TWO pair of tickets to
Wednesday, October 8
Factory Brooklyn II with Frankie Bones at Shadow Lounge
Hello New York,
Last week was a super fun, action packed week with three of our Summer long events coming to a close, we said temporary goodbye to Dances of Vice Summer Nights Burlesque Sail, Coney Island Laser Shows, and the Gotham Girls Roller Derby for the season. I had so much fun attending both the burlesque cruise and the last GGRD game, a huge congrats to Manhattan Mayhem for winning the 2014 championship!
**New Party Alert!**
Tonight is the launch of “Plug01“, a new rolling event series hosted by NYC electro pop duo The Dossier, which is also release of their long-awaited debut LP, “Strange Arrangements”. “PLUG is a new rolling event series hosted by NYC electropop duo The Dossier that features a wide spectrum of electronic artists in live performance, ranging from pop to techno to noise and all sounds in between, alongside a specially curated guest DJ. The debut party will featured Blush Response, Lost Children, DJ Derek Rush and of course The Dossiers!
Another new party debuting in NYC this week is “Sally Can’t Dance”, brought to you by some of the NYC nightlife veterans. “In a time when everyone says New York City is dead, all the artists, outlaws, and anything fun has been forced to the outer boroughs, a group of friends and instigators have decided to come together to start a monthly rock ‘n’ roll party, Sally Can’t Dance. It’s a night to bring all the tribes together, dressed up and messed up, for decadence and debauchery on the dance floor. This is a place for fast kids and old pros, drag queens and young punks, glitter glam and doom.” 10 Years ago Shaw Promotion broke into the NYC nightlife scene with the Motherf*cker party (RIP) and I have been missing the similar type NY underbelly parties. Sally Can’t Dance will be a good fix for those of you seeking something old and NEW. I will be there, hope to see you too, after checking out Ada Pasternak live at The Bitter End!
SHAW Promotion is very excited to be working with Live Nation once again, we are helping them promote few upcoming concerts at Warsaw, Brooklyn including this week’s Metronomy & Dawn Golden concert. Get your tickets HERE! and check out the Metronomy video below and the upcoming Live Nation Warsaw shows!
Two of my favorite presenters, T Presents and MyFreeConcert, are joining force once again to bring us some quality talents at Brooklyn Night Bazaar this weekend. Featuring Here We Go Magic, White Bike, and DJ Toy on Friday and Those Darlins, Landlady, Heat, Dirty Nil, and DJ Toy on Saturday. I can’t say enough good things about all the free shows and good times at Brooklyn Night Bazaar. I’m sure most of you have been to it already, but if you haven’t, you are really, really missing out on something special and unique in NYC.
Although we are mostly working with rock, electronic shows, and parties, I am actually musically classically trained and majored in oboe at High School of Performing Arts. We are honored to be working with Worldless Music once again with their two very, very awesome screenings with Live Film Score!! This Friday and Saturday, Wordless Music Orchestra will once again collaborate with Jonny Greenwood for the U.S. premiere of There Will Be Blood Live: a full screening and live film score to Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2007 masterpiece, which will be projected onto a massive 50′ movie screen at the historic and absurdly beautiful United Palace Theatre, the second-largest movie screen in all of New York City. Doesn’t that sound AMAZING?! Even if you aren’t into classical music, a live film score for one of the coolest movies sounds so cool; I will be there for the Saturday screening and you can still get your tickets HERE! The next one will be “The Godfather” on February 6 ~ 7, 2015, so save the dates!
We also have Simian Mobile Disco live with our good friends JDH & Dave P at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sunday and a very special live painting from the legendary Lee Scratch Perry’s First NY Art Show presented by Keeping Style Alive. Check out the rest of this newsletter for all details!
Lastly, you know how much we love motorcycles here at SHAW Promotion. One of my favorite bike shows is coming to Brooklyn this Saturday, The 6th Annual Brooklyn Invitational Custom Motorcycle Show!! This is not a SHAW event, but we are happy to help spread the word. I have never missed a Brooklyn Invitational show and I highly recommend attending, even if for some reason you’re not a motorcycle buff. This all day event will featured tons of amazing custom bikes, live bands, cool vendors, great culture, and wait for it.. it’s FREE!! Come look for the SHAW crew here on our Harley Davidson, Triumph and Ducati bikes and party with us! This will definitely be a great warm up party to next week’s 2nd Annual Motorcycle Film Festival!
Thank you for reading, have a great week!
Andy Shaw and the SHAW Promotion team.
