Hello New York,
We can officially say Winter is here by these very cold days, and that means that this is the 11th winter of the SHAW Promotion newsletter! The nightlife industry is a tough one and it’s hard to believe we have been at it for over a decade. What’s also impressive is the continuing success of our good friends at Fixed NYC who will be celebrating their 10th year anniversary this Friday at Output. JDH & Dave P of Fixed will team up with Joakim and a live performance from Jon Hopkins to help celebrate a decade of one of the best DJ teams around that is Fixed! Check out this TimeOut NY article “Jon Hopkins interview: ‘I love playing live; I can explore new versions there.” Doors 10PM and you can get your $20 advance tickets at Ticketfly and Resident Advisor. Congrats guys!
After the last amazing performance at the CBGB Festival, “The Sons and Heirs”, a tribute to The Smiths and Morrissey, are back this week at Santos Party House with a legendary special guest Doug Gillard of Guided By Voices and Nada Surf. Discount advance tickets are very much recommended as their last few dates have sold out, order now at Ticketweb
It’s been a long time coming for one of the best Rock n’ Roll / Rockabilly parties in town, Rebel Night NYC, who are finally back with a new night at The Grand Victory! Rebel Night started in Brooklyn in 2005 and they are getting back to their roots with a no cover monthly record hop every third Friday of the month in Williamsburg. Featuring the crazy Japanese host DJs DJ Sei, Jun and Hiromu plus special guests!
Another FREE event this weekend is Brooklyn Night Bazaar, the My Free Concert edition. Featuring X Ambassadors, Cultfever, Sego, Skyes on Friday and Obits, Survival Knife, Hungry Ghost and Pink Avalanche on Saturday. Another exciting news to let you know ahead of time is Spank Rock will be at the Night Bazaar next Saturday, November 29th presented by Audio Femme, so save the date!

Hello New York,
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend and didn’t get into too much trouble. Did you all vote yesterday? Voting has been a family tradition ever since I was was a kid going with my mom, we always made a date of it by voting then chowing down on some food and talking about it. Another noteworthy event for me yesterday was going to see Baby Metal at Hammerstein Ballroom put on by Live Nation. If you didn’t go, you definitely missed out on a very interesting band from Japan – three very young J Pop singing girls performing over a metal band. Be sure to check them out next year when they come back to the USA.
This weekend is the return of the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival. Although we are not working with BKEMF, it’s worth a mention because one of our favorite DJ duo’s, JDH & Dave P, will have their own Fixed Stage on Saturday with Aeroplane at Cameo Gallery. JDH and Dave P are quite the busy ones week with The Magician at Output tonight and Gesaffelstein at Terminal 5! That’s 3 chances to catch them live.
Lyynks Music will be presenting your FREE music and entertainment this weekend at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar. Featuring The Menzingers, Spraynard, Captain We are Sinking, Pale Angels and Iron Chic, Beach Slang, Blessed State and Collect Yourself. Brooklyn Night Bazaar works hard every week to bring you variety of live music free of charge and it is always my go-to place on weekends.
Listening to punk rock music growing up, I always held a special place in my heart for labels such as Lookout Records, Fat Wreck Chords, 2 Tone, Taang!, Go-Kart, Epitaph, etc. When we got a call from Epitaph Records asking for promo and marketing help in NYC, it was certainly a personal and professional victory. This week we are helping Epitaph with their sister label, Anti Records, on the NYC’s Anti Thesis concert on Monday, November 10th at Brooklyn Masonic Temple. Curated by Daniel Lanois , the evening will feature full-set performances from Lanois, The Antlers and Tinariwen as well as special guest Lonnie Holley. It is a celebration of music from vastly different origins which exists outside of traditional genres, structures and rules. For more info on Anti Thesis, click HERE! and you can get your tickets NOW!
That will do it for this week. Thank you for reading and go enjoy the rest of your week at these super fun events!
