Bootie NYC Mashup Top 10 – May / June 2016

BootieTop10_MayJune2016

Yay! We are posting our first Bootie Top 10 with the new web site! Hopefully, everything works and uploads correctly, and we didn’t break anything in the process.

Anyway, it’s the usual assortment of mostly recent A+Bs, with Adrian A representing a lot of the rock on this list, culling a couple tracks from the recent Rock Wars: Episode One mashup album. Mysterious D picked out the pop, including a couple of AnDy Wu’s mega-mashes of Rihanna’s”Work,” because she couldn’t pick just one!

Bootie top 10 06.16

Bootie NYC pays tribute to two of today’s modern divas, by having them battle it out at the club for mashup pop supremacy – it’s Britney vs. Taylor! We’ll be spinning the greatest songs Britney Spears and Taylor Swift have ever created, and giving them the Bootie treatment, mashing them up with anybody and everybody to create brand-new songs that you’ve almost, but not quite, never heard before! Direct from San Francisco will be Bootie creators and DJs Adrian A and Mysterious D, joined by Bootie NYC’s own Lobsterdust, as they keep the dance floor moving late into the night with all the best mashups in the universe. Plus, there will be live vocal mashup performances from Alejandro and Adrian A, along with FREE Bootie mashup CDs to the first 100 people through the door!

Launched in 2003 by San Francisco DJ duo A Plus D, Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the then-burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup — and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities. Winning various nightlife awards for the past 13 years, Bootie celebrates pop culture both past and present, keeping your brain guessing and body dancing with creative song combinations. Mixing and matching every musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party, it’s a place where everyone is welcome. And with free mashup CDs given away like candy, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation.

Bootie NYC Loves Bowie — Mashup tribute to David Bowie

We are shock and sadden by the sudden loss of one of the greatest artists and one of SHAW Promtion’s favorite icons. I have danced to thousands of Bowie songs and worked with countless Bowie themed / inspired parties such as Bowie Ball, Tiswas, Rated X, Motherfucker, Oh! You Pretty Things, and Sally Can’t Dance. Our partners at Bootie NYC mashup party is also a massive fan of David Bowie. A Plus D of Bootie Mashup put together Bootie Loves Bowie — Mashup tribute to David Bowie…

Bootie loves Bowie

“Anyone who knows Bootie knows that we — A Plus D — have always loved David Bowie. Hell, Adrian even owns a signed David Bowie poster. We’ve produced several David Bowie mashup shows at Bootie SF with local tribute band The First Church of the Sacred Silversexual, and — despite the unfortunate dearth of Bowie mashups — have still managed to sneak several into our DJ sets.

So it was devastating news to learn that one of our biggest musical heroes — and influences — died yesterday. While listening to dozens of Bowie songs in remembrance, we decided to pay tribute the only way Bootie knows how: by mashing him up!

Therefore, we are proud to present “Bootie Loves Bowie,” a 12-song compilation of our favorite David Bowie mashups and bootlegs.”

Bootie NYC Mashup, Best of 2015 Mixtape & bonus tracks of our favorite mashups of the year

Best of Bootie 2015 released!
Mixtape & bonus tracks of our favorite mashups of the year

“It seemed like it took FOREVER to get this year’s Best of Bootie 2015 done, but it’s finally compiled, mixed, and ready to share with the world – it’s our annual mixtape compilation of our favorite mashups and bootlegs of the past year, complete with 20 of the year’s best mashups, plus 10 bonus tracks.

As always, the main mixtape is all mega-mixed together so it fits on an old-school CD. It’s basically a 73-minute summary of an entire night at a Bootie party, from the build-up on the dance floor to the hands-up floor bangers to the drunken off-the-rails sing-alongs to the chilled-out come-down, to the slow jam at the end. Put it on for your own personal Bootie party!” ~ A+D of Bootie Mashup

CLICK THE COVER OR HERE TO GO TO THE DOWNLOAD PAGE!

Best of Bootie 2015

You can also download the tracks individually, unmixed, to mix and match into your own playlists, or grab the big 73-minute MP3 if you want the whole jam uninterrupted. We – A Plus D – curated and compiled the tracks, but a GIANT shout-out goes to Bootie Mashup 2015 M.V.P.’s Entyme, who not only mixed the whole thing, but also contributed an exclusive, never-before-released mashup of Adele’s “Hello,” which closes out the album in an epic fashion by paying homage to a 2004 classic from mashup legend Party Ben.

Of course, there’s plenty of bangers along the way courtesy of Bootie favorites DJs From Mars, DJ Schmolli, Shahar Varshal, and a bevy of others, including Bootie LA resident DJ ShyBoy and Bootie SF resident DJ Tripp.

There is nothing Bootie loves more than the musical culture-clash that mashups make possible. And nowhere is that more evident than in mashups that use artists from different decades in order to create brand-new songs that you’ve almost, but not quite, heard before!

Direct from San Francisco will be Bootie creators and DJs A Plus D, joined by Bootie NYC’s own Lobsterdust, as they mix and mash music from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, ’00s, and NOW — paying homage to the originals while keeping the music fresh in an epic multi-decade mashup smackdown! Plus, Adrian and Alejandro take the stage for the Midnight Mashup Show! All this, plus FREE Bootie mashup CDs to the first 100 people through the door!

Launched in 2003 by San Francisco DJ duo A Plus D, Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the then-burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup — and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities. “Bootie NYC Mashup Party at Gramercy Theatre, Shaken & Stirred Burlesque, BK Night Bazaar, The Church Grand Opening, Fixed+Aeroplane and MORE”

Hey New York City,

Happy Hump Day, I hope you are all recovering from your Irish festivities yesterday. I didn’t have the chance to go all out because I was busy making Queen Majesty Hot Sauce all night, but I did bring along some Guinness to get me through the night (although I never really need an excuse to drink my favorite beer).  Although I’m 100% Taiwanese, my son (who is due to arrive in 3 weeks!) is 25% Irish, so I can now say that I’m part of the Irish family.

Before I get into anything else, I need to tell you ALL ABOUT BOOTIE NYC MASHUP PARTY this Friday, March 20th.  It’s been 9 month since we had the last Bootie NYC party at the Northside Festival and it’s been too long.  This time we are teaming up with Live Nation to bring you the highly anticipated Bootie NYC at Gramercy Theatre and the $15 advance tickets are going f-f-f-FAST so get yours now HERE before they are gone.   Bootie Mashup is a global brand with parties all over the world (kind of like Fight Club) and Shaw Promotion is their brand ambassador and producer of the NYC chapter.  Let’s show our Bootie Mashup DJs and creators A PLUS D how we do it in New York City.  We have FREE Bootie Mashup CDs for the first 100 people through the door plus sideshow circus act and live mashup performances throughout the night.  I’m hosting all night long, so come say HI!!

FREE Bootie top 10 download HERE!

If you were like me and didn’t have time to get the party out of your system, fear not as I have a lot of fun events for you to attend this week.  If you enjoy a little naughty but nice burlesque, Wednesday’s Shaken & Stirred” Burlesque dance party featuring Clara Coquette at The Delancey. The show is hot and FREE which also features other beautiful girls and FREE shots!!

If you’re looking for something a little heavier, you can head over to the grand opening of “The Church” – a new hard rock/heavy metal party at Pinks NYC. A new party at a new bar featuring our favorite nightlife face, Samuel Valentine + Avi Miller. this party is  FREE and provides cheap booze and a damn good time.

Avi Miller & Samuel Valentine

Thursday, Queen Majesty steps out of the kitchen and away from making her famous hot sauce to bring you night of Downtown Top Ranking reggae beats with the Deadly Dragon crew at The Delancey, or you can go check out my favorite all girl NYC motorcycle gang , The Miss-Fires , over at Mercury Lounge where they are presenting a Night of Bikes, Bands, and Babes.  Two really good options if you ask me.

If live music is how you want to spend your weekend, go check out our favorite Brooklyn Night Bazaar over in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.  Defalco is presenting this weekend with tons of bands including The Ambassador, Karikatura, and King Holiday on Friday and Denitia and Sene with The Funk Ark on Saturday. Live music, local artists, local food, booze, and games will keep you busy for hours at this one stop shop.

Be sure to check out the rest of the events our calendar holds such as PopGun presents Fixed and tons from the Ecstatic Music Festival, including Terry Riley’s 80th birthday concert and much more.

Thanks for reading and happy Spring. We made it through the Winter NYC!!

Best of Bootie 2014 mixtape
20 of the year’s best mashups + 10 bonus tracks!

“It’s that time of year again! We’ve just compiled and mixed our 10th (yes, TENTH) “Best of Bootie” mixtape compilation, complete with 20 of the year’s best mashups, plus 10 bonus tracks.

As always, this mixtape really sonically represents the sound of 2014 at Bootie, from the “kick-off” right after the Midnight Mashup Show, to the sing-alongs, to the “hands up” EDM mashup bangers, to the cheesy pop classics, all the way down to the chilled-out come down, and the last slow jam of the night. Bootie NYC returns to Brooklyn — at Greenpoint’s Europa Club — with a mashup battle of the ages, where we take two of our most popular theme nights and mash them together. It’s ’80s vs ’90s Mashup Night! Both decades were musically mixed up, and for this special night, Bootie’s DJs are going to mix them up even more! Duran Duran or ‘N Sync? The Go-Go’s or the Spice Girls? Hair metal or grunge? Hardcore or gangsta rap? Why choose when you can have them ALL … mashed up, of course! Bring your pastel polo shirts and acid-washed overalls, your plastic pants or ripped jeans, leg-warmers or leotards — all the wonderful and awful fashion of two extremely colorful and fun decades, and be prepared to dance until the floor shakes!

Direct from San Francisco will be Bootie founders and DJs A Plus D firing up the decks with a special feature set! Joining them will be Bootie NYC‘s very own Lobsterdust, as they keep your body moving with the best mashups in the world. Plus, Adrian and Alejandro take the Verboten stage for the Midnight Mashup Show! All this, plus FREE Bootie mashup CDs to the first 100 people through the door!
